Hey folks, I will be in Toronto for NDPleadership2012. If you are looking for puppets email me gabe(at)fishonfridays(dot)ca or txt 613.898.4223. I’ll have a backpack full (I couldn’t afford a booth).
Thus far, the Peggy Nash puppet has sold the best, followed closely by Paul Dewar. My puppet poll may be inaccurate since I mainly sell in Toronto and Ottawa.

Political finger puppets are now at the new space in The Byward Market! 55 Byward Market Square, in the Artisans section. Just look for the little puppet theatre (my kid drew the Parliament building in the background).

I am sharing the space with other women artisans; so we have hats, knitted scarves, purses and hand painted silk designs. Please come by and say hello, one of us will be there to help you find the finger puppet politician of your dreams.

Diefenbaker! For the last couple of months, people have been asking me for a Diefenbaker finger puppet. I was curious to know; why the sudden surge in popularity for this former PM? But I’ve figured it out. No, not the Diefenbaby (you know, the guy who claims that the former PM was his biological dad) but a carefully crafted public relations campaign by the Conservative Government. No really, in an effort to have us Canadians think of the Conservatives as the “Natural governing party” they have been promoting Diefenbaker. In the last 6 months, they have named building after him and doing other things to make us think of him as a warm, fuzzy Conservative. I think we are being fooled. I’m gonna do more research on exactly how…… I’ll get back to you.
